ThesisItem Open Access A Study on Adoption of Drip Irrigation System in Botad District of Gujarat(Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University Bikaner – 334006, 2022) Vamja Maulikbhai Sureshbhai; Amita SharmaWater shortage is anticipated to become a problem in the future decades as the global population grows and the demand for water grows. With a rapidly growing population and millions of mouths to feed, India's agriculture is under severe strain. Even after seven decades of independence, India's agriculture is mostly reliant on monsoons. Farmers in India can play an important role in reducing water waste by implementing effective irrigation practises. In India, a considerable share of the population is classified as small or marginal farmers. All of this paints a bleak picture of India's agricultural future unless some innovative agricultural practises are used to boost production. Looking back over the last few decades, the net sown area has risen from 118 million hectares in 1950-51 to over 141 million hectares in 2017. Since 1970, it hasn't seen any significant growth. The late-sixties green revolution saved us from famine and made us self-sufficient in food grains. This was made feasible by the government's activities, which included the adoption of HYV seeds, fertilisers, and irrigation expansion. We've increased from roughly 20.85% of net irrigated area to 49.5 percent (Horticulture Statistic at Glance, 2018). This advancement does not come without a price. The indiscriminate removal of water for agriculture has had catastrophic repercussions. The water table has dropped, and irrigation expansion in dry and semi-arid areas has resulted in salinity and waterlogging. The problem of expanding agricultural productivity in light of limited land and finite water resources is enormous. While novel seed varieties and their ramifications are being researched around the world, new irrigation strategies are being implemented to improve water efficiency.ThesisItem Open Access Adaptability of Crop Insurance Schemes in Bikaner District of Rajasthan(INSTITUTE OF AGRI BUSINESS MANAGEMENT S. India is the 12th largest pesticide use in the world and the 3rd largest in Asia after China and Turkey. This study collects, organizes, and summarizes various types of pesticides, patterns of pesticide use, and detailed pesticide consumption data in India and around the planet. India's agriculture has grown tremendously over the last few decades. Edible grain production increased from 51 million tons (MT) in 1950 51 to 274 tons in 2019-20, the highest since independence. Hence Rapid growth has helped India's agriculture claim its presence on a global scale. India accounts for just 1% of global pesticide use. India used around 58,160 tons of pesticides in 2018. In 2017, the pesticide application rate was 0.31 kg per hectare. Despite the low use of pesticides per hectare in India, their reckless use has left residues in both biotic and abiotic sections of the environment. Not only has this led to commercialization and diversification, but investment in this sector has led to a variety of technological and institutional innovations. Agriculture is the most important profession for most Indian families. More than 60% of India's land area is cultivated land, making it the second-largest country in terms of total cultivated land. In agriculture, warehousing is crucial to enhance farm marketing, rural banking and financing, and safeguarding the country's food security. It enables markets to relieve pressure during harvest season while also ensuring a continuous supply of agricultural commodities throughout the off-season. Warehouses are storage facilities used to store and safeguard goods and agricultural produce until they are delivered to customers. The warehouse is a material handling station where the goods are received for storage, order picking, grading, sorting and shipping of goods for transportation. The commodities can be stored in a warehouse until the farmer receives a fair price for his output and relishes it, after that the commodities can be moved from the warehouse to the market. Warehouses fill the gap between produce, production and consumption, resulting in time utility. The goods can be stored in warehouses and sold to consumers as and when required. Storage empowers a firm to carry out production with expectation of future requirement. Most of the commodities are cultivated, produced and harvested only in specific season. Hence requirement of warehouse is essential for storing the harvested commodities for the consumption of produce in non-season period. Warehousing encourages production and distribution of goods and commodities for huge population that has huge scope.ThesisItem Open Access Assessment of Market Development Activities of Dantotsu in Dausa District of Rajasthan(Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner (Rajasthan) 334006, 2020) Ashutosh Mishra; Satyveer Singh MeenaGroundnut (Arachis hypogaea Linn.) a s an important ranking 13th among the food crops and it as adopted crop of global position by Indian as a vegetable oil crop during the middle - to - late nineteenth century. Modern agriculture is largely reliant on the usage of various agrochemicals, which play an important role in increasing the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of crop production in order to fulfil the food demands of the world's rapidly growing population (Pal et al., 2006). Agrochemicals are widely employed in agriculture to bridge the gap between food production and consumption in order to meet rising food demand. According to a study published in the journal Nature, Ecology & Evolution, pathogens and pests are causing global wheat losses ranging from 10% to 28%, rice losses ranging from 25% to 41%, maize losses ranging from 20% to 41%, potato losses ranging from 8% to 21%, and soybean losses ranging from 11% to 32% (Savary et al., 2019). In order to make agriculture more productive and profitable, the intensity of crop protection has increased significantly, as seen by a 15-20-fold increase in pesticides usage around the world.
