| dc.description.abstract | The study titled "Buying behavior and satisfaction level of farmers towards pesticides in Junagadh district" was conducted to examine the socio-economic profile of farmers, factors influencing their buying behaviour, pesticide handling practices and safety measures, problems encountered during pesticide purchase and the level of satisfaction among farmers. The study was conducted in the year 2023 in the Junagadh district and a total of 150 farmers were selected as participants. Various analytical methods were used such as simple tabular analysis, categorical regression analysis, frequency percentage method, garrett’s ranking technique and importance performance analysis. The study found that variables such as landholding, the influence of fellow farmers, and past experience with pesticides significantly influenced buying the 'ULALA' Insecticide. Most farmers acknowledged the impact of pesticides on human health and the environment, yet they also recognized their necessity for achieving high crop yields. However, a majority of farmers did not use any personal protective equipment (PPE) during pesticide mixing or application. As a result common symptoms observed among them included headaches, fatigue, and skin irritation. The main challenges faced by farmers when using pesticides were the high cost of pesticides, health hazards from toxicity and limited knowledge about recommended doses. The company should have prioritized attributes like product size and complete pest control for greater farmer satisfaction. The speed of killing pest and product availability were important factors for farmers, and implementing these attributes met their expectations. | |
