Abstract
India ranks first in milk production, third in egg production and second in aquaculture in the world, with an approximate livestock population of white cattle - 210.3 millions, buffaloes - 111.3 millions, sheep -73.99 millions, goats -154 millions and chicken 856 millions. The livestock contributes 29.7 % to total GDP ofthe country in 2009-10. The use of antibiotics has become integral to the growing animal food industry and treatment. Antibiotics are natural substance produced by a microorganism that inhibits the growth of or kills other microorganisms e.g. penicillin, erythromycin.
