Abstract
The research work “Job performance and satisfaction among Supervisors of Integrated Child Development Services scheme in Udaipur Division (Rajasthan)” was undertaken with the objectives to study the Supervisors knowledge of job responsibilities along with the job performance, extent of job satisfaction, constraints faced in job performance and factors associated with job performance and satisfaction of the Supervisors of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme. The study was conducted in purposively selected Udaipur division of Rajasthan state which consists of 6 districts namely Banswara, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand and Udaipur. Total sample under study consisted of 271 Supervisors. The questionnaire technique was used for collecting data from the respondents. The data were collected by the researcher personally during the monthly meetings of Supervisors held at the office of CDPO. For statistical analysis, frequency, percentage, mean percent scores, mean weighted scores and chi square test were used. The findings of the study revealed that majority of the respondents (69.37%) belonged to above 40 years age group, followed by 16.61 per cent belonged to 31-40 years age group. Nearly half of the respondents were graduate or above level of education. Majority of the respondents (78.97%) were married and 38.75 per cent of the respondents had 11-20 years of job experience. More than half of the respondents (59.04%) have received 1 month job training. Majority of the respondents (77.86%) assigned 26-50 anganwadi centers and 60.89 per cent of the respondents covered 21-40 km geographical area. Nearly two third of the respondents (76.38%) were having personal smart phone. 119 Regarding knowledge of the job responsibilities of ICDS scheme, respondents possessed overall average knowledge (MPS 55.57) as the respondents were in average, good and poor knowledge category to 82.66 per cent, 15.13 per cent and 2.21 per cent respectively. Majority of the respondents (81.92%) were in medium performance category and 16.60 per cent of the respondents in low performance category. This is also reflected in MWS 1.74. Regarding the overall job satisfaction, the respondents were least satisfied with the job as revealed by MWS 1.43. Which is also reflected in distribution of respondents as majority of the respondents (59.78%) were in low satisfaction category and 39.11 per cent of the respondents in medium satisfaction category. Major constraints faced by the respondents were inadequate TA/DA for meetings and visit of AWCs (2.62 MWS), illiteracy of AWWs (2.58 MWS), too many AWCs under control (2.54 MWS), lack of stay arrangement in village if needed (2.47 MWS), problem of personal security during AWCs visit (2.39 MWS), problem of children education (2.39 MWS), lack of proper policy for promotion & transfer (2.37 MWS), too much report writing work (2.34 MWS), location of AWCs (2.29 MWS) and lack of instructional material for pre-school education (2.27 MWS). Experience, refresher trainings, knowledge, job satisfaction and constraints of the respondents were found to have significant association with job performance of the respondents and age, job performance and constraints of the respondents were found to have significant association with job satisfaction of the respondents at 5 per cent level of significance. A number of viable and useful suggestions were made by the respondents to strengthen the ICDS scheme. The suggestions were number of AWCs allotment must be as per rule, provision of vehicle, reduce the extra work load, provision for education of illiterate AWWs, providing electricity, water, toilet and furniture at AWC, fill the vacant position and supplementary food preparation by AWWs.
