The study was conducted on twelve clinical cases of dogs with corneal ulcers at the Dept. of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, Veterinary College, Bidar, partitioned into two groups comprising six dogs. Group I underwent corneo-conjunctival transposition (CCT) grafting, while Group II underwent conjunctival bridge grafting. Corneal ulcer incidence rate during January 2022 to December 2023 and occurrence rate during January 2019 to December 2021 at Veterinary Clinical Complex, Bidar and Hassan were 0.24% and 0.08% respectively. CCT grafting demonstrated notably shorter surgical operating time compared to conjunctival bridge grafting. Pre- and post-operative evaluations encompassed ophthalmic, neuro-ophthalmic and behavioural vision tests up to day 120. Dogs with CCT grafts exhibited prompt vision restoration, achieving corneal near transparency by day 90, contrasting with the day 120 for those with conjunctival bridge grafts. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) confirmed excellent corneal healing and graft adherence in both groups. Post-operation complication of graft dehiscence observed in one case on 5th day in group II. In conclusion, CCT and conjunctival bridge graft was helpful in achieving complete corneal healing. CCT graft technique emerged as a superior technique in comparison as it achievied earlier near corneal transparency, accelerated improvement in vision, and a reduced surgical operating time compared to the conjunctival bridge graft technique.
