dc.description.abstractA total of 11 bucks comprising 4 Jamnapari, 4 Barbari and 3 Black Bengal bucks were used in this study for the assessment of free ability of their sperms. Tris egg yolk fructose citric acid glycerol dilutor was used for the freezing of semen samples. Samples were packaged in Landshut straws, frozen and were preserved in liquid nitrogen. Cellular and acrosomal morphology of the sperms were studied at different stages of freezing i.e. after dilution, after equilibration and after thawing. Altogether, 132 semen samples were frozen. Of these, 36 semen samples were collected from bucks of Black Bengal breed and 48 semen samples each were collected from bucks of Jamnapari and Barbari breed. The effect of different hours of equilibration was studied on the characters of sperms. After freezing post thaw characters with main emphasis on motility was studied and was compared statistically for different hours of equilibration and different breeds. Assay of activities of three important enzymes viz AST, ALT and LDH was made in unfrozen and frozen semen samples following different hours of equilibration.
