Ectropion or the eversion of the eyelid is less dangerous to the eye, but can produce chronic keratitis, conjunctivitis, keratoconjuncrivitis, epiphora, and tear staining of the eyelids. Of the animal species with ectropion, dogs (particularly the large breeds) are most frequently affected. Ectropion may be associated with developmental, cicatricial, traumatic, neurologic, and postoperative causes.en_US
