Among veterinarians, gastrointestinal problems are a major concern for small animal practitioners. Specifically chronic disorders of the digestive tract can be difficult to manage because of the limitations of the diagnostic procedures and the multiplicity of possible causes (German and Zentek, 2005). They are also among the most common presentations in general practice, producing real problems for veterinarians in terms of diagnosis. This stems from vagueness of the history as provided by the owner, nonspecific symptoms, wide and sometimes confusing range of complementary tests (Biourge, 2006). Krisner
