dc.description.abstractThe present study has been conducted on “A study on government educational programmes in rural area” was undertaken in the year 2009-2010 in Haveri taluk of Karnataka with a sample size of 225 in six villages. The data was collected on awareness, knowledge, opinion, problems, suggestions and priorities about educational schemes with the help of pre-tested structured interview schedule. Majority of the stakeholders (72.19%) were aware of educational schemes. Cent per cent of teachers had favorable opinion towards achievement of objectives of educational schemes followed by officers of educational department (80.77%) and community leaders (72.00%).Cent per cent of the parents had the opinion that regularity in attendance, control in students drop-out rate and interest in cultural activities were improved due to these educational schemes. Majority of the father (75.00%), mother (60.41%), students (79.17%) and teachers (53.33%) were having high level of knowledge towards educational schemes. Cent per cent of parents had problems like less scholarship money, improper treatment by the doctors and less effective tablets. Most of the officers of education department mentioned that government do not release fund in time (46.15%) followed by non co-operation from the teachers (38.46%) and delay in supply of materials (30.77%). Cent per cent of parents suggested to distribute scholarship amount in time with increased amount and good treatment by the doctor. Majority of the officers of education department suggested that awareness camps should be conducted for community people (84.61%).Father was given I, II and III priorities for free text book, free uniform and mid day meals respectively. Both mother and students have given same ranking to the scheme free text books as I priority and free uniform as II priority and scholarship III priority.en_US
