dc.description.abstractIn the light of the findings obtained from these investigations, the following conclusions are drawn. The analysis of Socio-personal and Economic Characteristics of the respondents in C.V.P. villages revealed that majority of the respondents belonged to middle age group, having education upto primary level and membership of at least one organisation with nuclear family system and large family size. A considerable percentage of the respondents were having at least one pair of bullocks, improved plough and/or bullock cart, household items like chair, cycle, radio, sewing machine etc., livestock such as poultry. goatry, piggery, milch cattle etc.. land holding upto 5 acres in their possession and engaged either as farm labourer or cultivator. Notably, most of the respondents belonged to medium socio-economic status group. By and large, the level of General Awareness of the respondents wi respect to various Social Forestry Activities of C.V.P, like (a) Social Forest extention programme (b) Land and water management (c) Afforestatio programme (d) Protection and management of plantation and (e) Extractio and sale of produce, was found to be medium. 3. Similarly, the extent of People's Participation in various Social Forestry Activities of C.V.P., such as (a) Social Forestry extension programme (b) Land and water management (c) Afforestation programme (d) Protection and management of plantation and (e) Extraction and sale of produce was observed to be neither high nor low. 4 Out of 10 selected Motivational Factors responsible for People's Participation in Social Forestry programme of C.V.P., Production of forest produce, Economic gain and Employment generation were considered highly effective while Efficient utilization of wastelands, Elimination of villager's exploitation and Reduction in exodus to urban areas were adjudged as moderately effective and rest, Soil and water conservation, Environmental amelioration and Social, cultural, and political upliftment of rural people,
