dc.keywordsThe present study deals with icthyofaunal diversity of Phophal, Ozat-II and Hiran-II reservoirs of Saurashtra region. The study was carried out on a seasonal basis summer (March to June), Monsoon (July to October) and winter (November to February) periods during January 2019 to February 2020. The water quality parameters were recorded for all three reservoirs and water temperature range from 24.5 ± 0.97 to 24.9 ± 0.71 (°C), pH from 7.8 ± 0.12 to 7.7 ± 0.06, dissolved oxygen from 7.9 ± 0.55 to 8.07 ± 0.35 mg/l, total hardness from 103.35 ± 5.13 to 106.42 ± 4.63 mg/l and total alkalinity from 96.42 ± 3.22 to 142.71 ± 1.97 mg/l. The average water quality during study period indicated that these three reservoirs were ideal for fisheries productivity. The present investigation discovered presence of 48 species of fishes under eight orders, 15 families and 30 genera. The highest number of fishes were recorded in Phophal reservoir (41 species) followed by Ozat-II (27 species) Hiran-II reservoir (23 species). The order with diverse species composition was Cypriniformes (20 species). Cyprinidae was the most diverse family with 20 species. The range of fish diversity indices calculated during study period was Shannon wiener species diversity (2.673 to 1.697), Pielou’s evenness (0.3532 to 0.2373) and Margalef’s spices richness (4.023 to 2.26). The calculated ranges of fish diversity indices indicated healthy nature of ecosystem with rich species diversity in descending order from Phophal > Ozat-II > Hiran-II. This is first ever study on the fish diversity of all three reservoirs and would help in explore the fish fauna of Saurashtra region.en_US
