dc.description.abstractThe present study was an attempt to assess the social intelligence of college students (Boys and Girls) of 19-21 years old. 120 boys and 120 girls in the age group of19-21 years were randomly drawn from government and private colleges in Udaipur city. Social intelligence scale was used to assess the overall social intelligence level of college students and its dimensions like patience, cooperativeness, confidence, sensitivity, recognition of social environment, tactfulness, sense of humour and memory dimensions. The data obtained were analyzed in the light of the objectives set for present investigation. The overall social intelligence and its dimensions were assessed by percentage distribution separately for boys and girls. z test was applied to find out the significant differences in social intelligence and its dimensions between boys and girls of 19-21 years old. Institution wise significant differences in social intelligence and its dimensions were also assessed. Major findings of study were : Findings revealed that majority of the subjects passed with first division. Many of them participated in cultural and literary activities in the college. There was no significant difference between boys and girls regarding over all social intelligence and in dimension of patience, confidence, and sensitivity, Recognition of social environment, tactfulness and sense of humour. Significant difference was observed between boys and girls (at 0.01% level of significance) in cooperativeness and memory dimension of social intelligence. Significant difference was observed between student studying in private and government institution in the dimension etc. cooperativeness, confidence, recognition of social environment, memory dimension and over all social intelligence at 0.05% level of significance. The students of government colleges had significantly higher mean values on these dimensions as compared to students of private colleges.en_US
