dc.description.abstract | Cryptosporidiosis is an emerging zoonotic disease of global importance caused by the apicomplexan, protozoan parasite. Cryptosporidium, inhabits the microvilli of epithelial surface of the gastrointestinal and respiratory tracts of a wide variety of vertebrates, including humans, causing significant morbidity and mortality, which now represents the third major cause of diarrhoeal disease world wide (Spano and Crisanti, 2000). | |
