dc.description.abstractThe present study was conducted in Haryana state. Two districts viz. Sirsa and Hisar and one block from each district was selected randomly. Sixty respondents (30 males and 30 females) from each village were selected randomly, to make 240 respondents in total for study. Gain in knowledge, change in attitude and symbolic adoption on organic farming were assessed. More than half of the respondents had overall low knowledge, neutral attitude and not ready to adopt organic farming at preexposure stage. Standard procedure for media development was followed. The effectiveness of booklet and CD were assessed in different parameters. For booklet, overall weighted mean scores showed that accuracy, coverage, objectivity, writing style, content presentation, illustration and compatibility were perceived to be high for all the messages. Effectiveness of CD was perceived high, assessed in terms of audio quality, video quality, presentation of messages and content importance and stability. Inter consistency reliability for booklet and CD were found to be statistically highly significance at 1 percent level of significance. Field applicability was found to be high for all messages. The media was exposed to 120 respondents who had low knowledge on organic farming at pre-exposure stage. The impact of booklet and CD was found to be highly significant for gain in knowledge, change in attitude and symbolic adoption. Therefor it can be concluded that respondents had knowledge acquisition and favorable attitude towards organic farming after media exposure.en_US
