It is evident from earlier discussion that the effect of pesticide at two different dose levels caused significant decrease of urinary 17-Ketosteroid levels in treatment groups when compared from that of control group as presented in Table-3, but was non-significant between the two treated groups. Decreased levels was noted consider ably on 90th day than that of 45th day when compared with 0 day. The decrease in levels might be due to decrease in sex hormone levels and hypofunction of adrenal as well as ovarian gland so far hormonal synthesis is concerned. Thus endosulfan might have some adverse effect on the normal formation and elimination of sex hormones. The results brought in the studies in tables-4 and 5 under experiment revealed that the average concentration of lipid and cholesterol in the ovarian tissue has been affected by the pesticide intake at two different dose levels of 50 and 150 ppm. There is significant increase of lipid and cholesterol in the cortical cells, membrana granulosa and thecal cells of the ovary of treatment groups in comparison to control group as was evident from histochemical studies. The homogenous form of lipid in the treatment groups were suggestive of cellular destruction and coalescence of lipid droplets. This increase in the concentration of lipid as well as cholesterol in the ovarian tissue might be due to the inhibitory effect of the pesticide on enzymes responsible for lipid metabolism and inhibition of cholinesterase respectively.en_US
