Abstract
The presence of antimicrobial activity in the endophytes of (Eleusine coracana L. Gaertn.
throws up several possibilities. They may be a source of novel drugs like antibiotics which are
the need of the hour in the wake of widespread multidrug resistance being observed. It is
imperative that the substances possessing the antimicrobial properties are identified. Cloning
and large scale expression of novel compounds may have application in the agriculture and
medical field.
