The present investigation “Studies on the effect of Integrated Nutrient Management on growth, yield and quality of apple (Malus x domestica Borkh.) cv. Red Delicious” was conducted at Fruit Orchard, Department of Fruit Science, V.C.S.G Uttarakhand University of Horticulture and Forestry, Bharsar, Uttarakhand during 2014-2015. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design with seven treatments and three replications viz., T1 : 75% inorganic fertilizers +25% organic fertilizers (FYM), T2: 75% inorganic fertilizers + 25% organic fertilizers (vermicompost) , T3: 60% inorganic fertilizers + 40% organic fertilizers (FYM),T4: 60% inorganic fertilizers + 40% organic fertilizers (vermicompost),T5: 50% inorganic fertilizers + 50% organic fertilizers (FYM),T6: 50% inorganic fertilizers + 50% organic fertilizers(vermicompost) and T7: Control (700g N+350g P+700g K). Based on the results obtained from the present investigations, it was observed that the highest fruit set, fruit yield and some fruit quality parameters like fruit size, fruit weight and fruit volume were obtained with the treatment 60% inorganic fertilizers + 40% organic fertilizers (vermicompost). The tree growth parameters like trunk growth, leaf area and some fruit quality parameters like TSS, reducing sugars, non reducing sugars and total sugars were obtained highest with 75% inorganic fertilizers + 25 % organic fertilizers like FYM and vermicompost. Among the soil nutrient status, the maximum soil pH, N, P and K were obtained with the control treatment (700g N+250g P+700g K). Hence, it is concluded that the integrated use of 60% inorganic fertilizers + 40% organic fertilizers (vermicompost) was found most effective in improving the yield and quality of apple fruits. The control treatment (700g N+250g P+700g K) was best in terms of improving the soil nutrient status.en_US
