In lndia, agriculture and allied sector have a rnainstay as its share in employment and
livelihood creation is incredibly high. It is the chief source of livelihood for more than 58
per cent of the population and is the essence of growth of lndian economy, accounting for
14 per cent of the nation's Gross Domestic Product (Anonymous, 2013).
