dc.description.abstract | Seasonal incidence of major insect-pests of bottle gourd [Lagenaria siceraria (Molina) Stand.] and their eco-safe management Ganpat Yadav* Dr. M.K. Mahla The investigation on “Seasonal Incidence of Major Insect-Pests of Bottle Gourd [Lagenaria siceraria (Molina) Stand.] and their eco-safe Management” was carried out during summer, 2017 at the Horticulture Farm and the laboratory of Department of Entomology, Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Udaipur. The incidence of red pumpkin beetle initiated in the 1st week of June 2017 (16 beetle / 5 plants) (22nd SMW) and reached to the peak (34 beetle / 5plants) in the 26th SMW on 1st July, 2017. The population of red pumpkin beetle evinced significant positive correlation with mean atmospheric temperature while significant negative correlation with mean relative humidity. The infestation of the fruit fly commenced from the 4th week of June 2017 (25 SMW) 17.85 per cent mean fruit infestation and (27 mean catches per trap per week). Those reached its peak with (58.33%) mean fruit infestation and (81 catches/trap/week) during the 3rd week of July (29th SMW). Per cent fruit infestation and catches per week both are showed significant positive correlation with mean relative humidity and significant negative correlation with mean atmospheric temperature. The efficacy of biopesticides evaluated against major insect-pests showed that treatment of spinosad 45 SC @ 1 ml/l was most effective which caused highest mean per cent reduction in population of red pumpkin beetle and minimum fruit fly infestation. For biopesticides treatment of parthenium leaf extract @ 100 ml/l was least effective both the pests. The highest yield was obtained from treatment of spinosad 45 SC @ 1 ml/l and minimum yield was recorded in treatment parthenium leaf extract (@ 100 ml/l). The highest benefit: cost ratio of 4.51 was recorded in spinosad 45 SC treatment and minimum benefit cost ratio 3.67 was recorded in treatment parthenium leaf extract (@ 100 ml/l) during summer, 2017. | en_US |
