dc.description.abstracthe present study on distribution and diversity of Echinodermata from Sikka coast of Gujarat were carried out during September-19 to February-20. During the study period total 159 echinoderms were recorded and the dominant class were Holothuroidea and Asteroidea. During the research time, a total of eight species belonging to eight families and seven orders were observed. Echinoderms Viz., Astropecten sp., Aquilonastra burtoni, Anthenea rudis, Euantedon sp., Salmacis bicolor, Holothuria (Lessonothuria) pardalis, Ophioplocusimbricatus and Ophiocomella sp. were recorded during the study period. During the research period, highest Shannon diversity index recorded in January at GSFC (H’) - 1.709 while at Vador highest Shannon diversity index was reported in December - 1.82. Highest evenness index (J’) 0.8415 and 0.9391 were recorded in February at GSFC and VADOR respectively. Highest Margalef species richness indexes (d) 2.216 were observed in January at GSFC while at Vador highest value 0.9391 observed in December. Correlation of number of species with water quality parameter were carried out and negative correlation was observed among temperature and number of species and positive correlation was observed in pH, Salinity, Dissolved oxygen, and Total suspended solids Vs number of species. The range of different water quality parameters were as: Temperature (28⁰C to 33⁰C), pH (7.9 to 8.14), Salinity (32 ppt to 34 ppt), DO (7.3 mg/L to 8.2 mg/L), Total suspended solids (1.2 mg/L to 4.6 mg/L).en_US
