Effect of Various Levels of Concentrate Feed Supplementation on Conception Rate in Madras Red Sheep

Abstract
The present study was aimed to know the conception rate in the grazing animals of Madras Red Sheep when fed with limited concentrate. In this 30 of 2-6 years ewes were grouped into three, first group (Control) was reared only on grazing, second group was fed with 10% of its DM requirement, and third group was fed with 20% of its DM requirement as concentrate feed for 14 days prior to breeding season (off season - February). In this 8, 6 and 6 were exhibited oestrous symptoms and 3, 4 and 4 animals were conceived in the respective groups and the conception rate was significantly higher (P<0.05) in the supplemented groups.
