Abstract
Bacterial infections of poultry are an important [actor in decreasing egg production, high
embryonic mortalities and public health concerns. One thousand and nine indigenous chicken eggs (includes Aseel, Kadaknath and Chittagong) were collected over a period of eight months from university farm, organized private farm and backyard rearers were analysed. The bacteria isolated were Staphylococcus spp. the highest 31.53 par cent followed by E. coli 26.15 per cent, Proteus spp. 11.53 per cent, Bacillus spp. 9.23 per cent, Streptococcus spp. 6.92 per cent, Klebsiella spp. 6.15 per cent, Pseudomonas spp. 6.15 per cent and Salmonella spp. 2.30 per cent out of 130 isolates.
