STUDY ON THE MARKET POTENTIAL OF CAULIFLOWER IN RANCHI DISTRICT OF JHARKHANDen_US
The purpose of this study was to learn about the sociocultural conditions of farmers in the Kanke and Ormanjhi blocks of Ranchi, as well as the market potential of cauliflower seeds and market share of cauliflower in the Ranchi district of Jharkhand. Kanke and Ormanjhi are two among Ranchi's chosen study places. The study included 60 farmers and 10 shops from the aforementioned areas. According to the poll results, the vast majority of respondents are literate, with 90% having completed their education and only 10% of respondents being illiterate. The nuclear family accounted for 80% of the total, while the blended family accounted for 20%. 0 % lived in huts, 8.33 % in kuccha houses, 16.67 % in mixed houses (kaccha and pucca), and % in pucca houses. Users of cauliflower seeds were found to dwell in kuccha households 8.33 %, 16.67 % in mixed, and % in kuccha houses. The majority of farmers (51.67 %) owned low land, while 48.33 % owned upland and intermediate land (41.67%). According to the report, the majority of farmers grew cauliflower during the kharif season (70 percent), followed by the rabi season (51.67 %), and the zaid season (10 %) (18.33%). Farmers obtain their suppliers from shopkeepers in the local hamlet, and 91.67 % buy seeds from the market because market seeds are readily available. NGO's provide seeds to only 8.33 %. Farmers preferred short-duration cauliflower (51.67 %), followed by mediumduration cauliflower (28.33 %), and long-duration cauliflower (the remaining farmers). Cauliflower is grown all year in Jharkhand due to a favorable climate for cauliflower farming. Reduced commodity prices, large middle-man profit margins, an unstructured marketing system, a long chain of middlemen, inadequate storage facilities, and a lack of a well-established marketing system were among the issues farmers faced. It was discovered that the area under cultivation of cauliflower seeds had increased dramatically. In the cauliflower market, syngenta was discovered to be the market leader. The conclusion was that there is a lot of potential for hybrid cauliflower seeds in Ranchi, but more attention has to be paid to cauliflower seed promotion and marketing in order to raise awareness among farmers.en_US
