On the basis of results obtained in present study the following conclusions can be drawn: 1) PB2 X Desi birds were significantly superior in growth, early sexual maturity, higher body weight at first lay, high egg production rate and higher egg weight than that of Desi birds under both farm and village conditions of management. A significant superiority of PB2 X Desi birds in hatch weight and body weight at various stages of growth is an additional advantage in economic traits by crossing of Desi birds with PB2 strain. 2) The higher body weight gain and feed conversion efficiency in PB2 X Desi birds than Desi birds indicated PB2 X Desi birds to be more economical than that of Desi birds. 3) The positive and significant phenotypic correlation among body weight of birds at various ages would form an excellent basis for selection of birds at earlier ages. 4) The high and positive phenotypic correlation between body weight and shank length would be more reliable basis of selection. 5) Since the cholesterol level of egg yolk and meat of Desi and PB2 X Desi birds was lesser than the recommended level, egg and meat of Desi and PB2 X Desi birds can be included as a part of healthy diet. 269 6) PB2 X Desi birds are more suitable for farm owing to its physical conformation and inherent genetic potentials of faster growth. Whereas, Desi birds are being more adaptable to rural conditions with comparatively higher disease tolerance capacities. The PB2 X Desi birds are more economical than that of Desi birds under both farm and village conditions of management. Therefore, PB2 X Desi birds can be recommended for rearing in villages for better returns than Desi birds.en_US
