AWARENESS AND PURCHASE DECISION ABOUT ORGANIC
FERTILIZERS IN JUNAGADH DISTRICT

The study on “Awareness and purchase decision about organic fertilizers in
Junagadh district” was under taken with objectives to study the socio-economic
profile of farmers, measure the level of awareness about organic fertilizers,
identify the factors affecting the decision about organic fertilizers, measure the
level of satisfaction about organic fertilizers, identify constraints faced by farmers
and dealers related to organic fertilizers. Total 20 dealers and 120 farmers using
organic fertilizers were selected from Junagadh district. The analytical tools
employed were tabular method, arbitrary method, categorical regression analysis,
likert scale method, mean and standard deviation, garrett’s ranking technique. It
was found that majority of farmers had medium level of awareness about organic
fertilizers. Independent variable was concluded that annual income, land holding
and timely availability had a significant effect in explaining the purchase decision
for organic fertilizers. Farmers had medium level of satisfaction about organic
fertilizers. Major constraints faced by farmers were higher price, quality of
product, lack of knowledge about the product, past experience and timely
availability of product and major high constraints faced by dealers were higher
price, lower credit facilities, lack of storage facility and quality of product.
