Abstract
The present investigation entitled “Effect of interspecific stionic combinations on the nursery production of kiwifruit was carried out in the Department of Fruit Science, Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Himachal Pradesh, India during 2021-2023. The experiment was laid out according to Randomized Block Design. Two commercial cultivars viz., Hayward and Allison were grafted on nine different rootstocks namely; MSU Klur, Kens Red, 74-49, Dum Barton Oaks, 74-32, Cordifolia, Issai Kim, Chung Bai and Bruno (Check), in all making eighteen treatment combinations. The highest graft take success was recorded in plants of Cv. Hayward grafted on MSU Klur (93.33%). The lowest graft take success was obtained in plants of cultivar Allison grafted on Cordifolia and Issai Kim, both recording40 percent graft take success. The results revealed that both the commercial cultivars understudy were found to be compatible with MSU Klur, Kens Red, 74-49, Dum Barton Oaks, 74-32, Cordifolia, Issai Kim and Chung Bai rootstocks. Among all the stionic combinations, Hayward grafted on MSU Klur attained the best growth, smooth graft union and root growth. Both the cultivars grafted on 79-49 rootstock attained lesser growth and produced dwarfed plants.
