Abstract
ABSTRACT
The present study entitled “Supply chain Management of Apple Production in Kinnaur and Kullu
Districts of Himchal Pradesh” was conducted during the year 2021-2022 in two districts of Himachal Pradesh.
To study the existing status of apple production and marketing in Himachal Pradesh and to identify gaps and
challenges in the existing supply chain of apple production and marketing, a sample of 400 respondents were
interviewed through structured questionnaire. Various linear regression models were used to identify the factors
which were determine the awareness level of the apple producers for supply chain management. To estimate the
Productions and marketing garret’s ranking was used and other statistical and econometrical tools were
employed for investigate constraints of supply chain management. Supply chain management of apples is
responsible for the efficient function of apple moving from producer to consumer and involved various
activities. Nearly 70 per cent of the respondents were lies in the range of highly unsatisfied to unsatisfied from
current system of supply chain management. Three different channels through which the apple is supplied to
consumer in Kinnaur market. Out of all three markets, the channel III is found to be efficient with modified
market efficiency of 47.3 per cent. The producer share for consumer in rupees is 81.81 per cent with net
marketing margin 180 and price spread 380. Channel I have modified market efficiency of 41.60 per cent and
the producer share for consumer in rupees is 62.11 per cent with net marketing margin 240 and price spread 610.
Channel II have low modified market efficiency of 20 per cent and the producer share for consumer in rupees is
78.94 per cent with net marketing margin 200 and price spread 400. Apple producers were not so aware about
the constraints of the supply chain management and gaps can be reduced by the efficient supply chain
management.
