Abstract
Impaction is an accumulation of food or
non-food items (Sticks, metal, glass etc.) in the
proventriculus with the subsequent blockage of the
opening into the gizzard causing a failure of food to
move along the gastrointestinal tract ,
(Huchzermeyer, 1994, 1998). This paper reports
cases of gastric impaction in ostrich chicks
encountered at necropsy.
