Abstract
Alternaria blight of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Miller) caused by Alternaria solani (Ell. and Mart.) Jones and Grout was found prevalent at farmer's field as well as in Agriculture farm of Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Udaipur. Physiological studies revealed that fungus grew well on both potato dextrose agar and broth. Maximum growth and sporulation were favoured by pH 6.5 and temperature ranging between 25 to 30±2°C, whereas, fungus grew well under continuous green light while it showed poor growth under continuous yellow light. Highest spore germination was favoured by temperature at 28±2°C and relative humidity 80 to 100 per cent. In present disease management studies carbendazim, Achook and Trichoderma viride and their different combinations were used against test pathogen. Trichoderma viride was found superior for inhibition of mycelial growth of Alternaria solani followed Achook + Trichoderma viride.
