(College of Horticulture and Forestry, Jhalawar, 2023) VISHWADEEP BALYAN; Dr. Prerak Bhatnagar
A field experiment entitled “Effect of foliar spray of Urea and Nano urea on growth and yield attributes of Acid lime (Citrus aurantifolia Swingle.) cv. Kagzi” was conducted at the Fruit Instructional Farm, Department of Fruit Science, College of Horticulture and Forestry, Jhalawar during June 2022 to December 2022. The experiment consisted of nine treatments viz. Control, Urea (0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0%) and Nano urea (500, 1000, 1500 and 2000 ppm). The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block design with three replications. Among different foliar doses of treatment combinations of Urea and Nano urea, T4 treatment (Urea @ 2%) resulted in enhancement in plant height (m), plant spread [E-W and N-S (m)], canopy volume (m3), number of fruits plant-1, yield plant-1 (kg) and estimated yield (q/ha). The results under influence of foliar application of various treatments reflected that the application of treatment T4 (Urea @ 2%) was found best with respect to augmentation in fruit weight (g), fruit length (cm), fruit breadth (cm), peel thickness (mm), number of seeds/fruit, juice (%), TSS (oBrix), Acidity (%), TSS/Acidity ratio, ascorbic acid (mg/100ml), juice pH, chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, total chlorophyll content (mg g-1 of fresh weight) and relative water content percentage. The maximum leaf N content, leaf P content was estimated in T4 treatment (Urea @ 2%), however maximum leaf K content was measured in T2 treatment after harvesting of acid lime cv. Kagzi fruits. Summarizing, T4 treatment was found better for improvement of growth, yield, quality, physiological parameters and leaf N and P content in acid lime cv. Kagzi.

EFFECT OF TIME OF SHOOT BENDING ON FLOWERING, FRUITING AND YIELD ATTRIBUTES IN GUAVA (Psidium guajava L.) CV. SARDAR
(College of Horticulture and Forestry, Jhalawar, 2023) RAM KARAN CHAUHAN; Dr. Prerak Bhatnagar
A field experiment entitled “Effect of time of shoot bending on flowering, fruiting and yield attributes in guava (Psidium guajava L.) cv. Sardar” was conducted during the year 2022-23 at the Instructional Farm, Department of Fruit Science, College of Horticulture and Forestry, Jhalawar. The experiment consisted of 9 treatments laid out in Randomized Block Design with three replications. Among the different treatments of bending flowering and fruiting attributes like days required to initiation of flowers (37.66 days), days required for fruit set (45.00 days), number of flowering shootlets per branch (13.85), fruit set per cent (48.33%) and fruit retention per cent (39.66%) were found significantly superior in treatment T1 (30th May bending). However, some flowering and fruiting attributes like days required to emergence of new shoot (7.46 days) and number of new shootlets per branch (24.80%) were found significantly superior in treatment T4 (15th July bending). The yield attributes viz. number of fruits per bent shoot at harvest (28.66 fruits) and estimated yield (4.96 kg/ bent shoot) were found significantly superior in treatment T1 (30th May bending). However, fruit length (7.52 cm), fruit weight (185.66 g), fruit diameter (7.45 cm), pulp thickness (1.48 cm), size of seeds cavity per fruit (4.56 cm) and number of seeds per fruit (353.66 seeds) were found significantly superior in treatment T4 (15th July bending). The quality attributes viz. TSS (11.750B), total sugar (7.61%), reducing sugar (5.21%) and non-reducing sugar (2.40%) along with ascorbic acid (198.66 mg/ 100g pulp) were observed comparatively better in treatment T1 (15th May bending). Based on the present investigations, it may concluded that bending of 15th May in guava (Psidium guajava L.) cv. Sardar had beneficial effect in improving flowering, fruiting, yield and quality attributes in guava in prevailing condition of South-East Rajasthan. However the study require longer observation being confined during single season investigation.
