Utilization of credit for which it is provided is an important element in agricultural development. The limited availability of credit and its lack have been acknowledged as the most limiting factor in the modernization of agriculture. The prosperity of agricultural sector mainly depends on the adoption of improved technology developed to increase the production. Modern agriculture on scientific lines is credit intensive in nature since the use of different types of agriculture inputs like fertilizers, machinery and other inputs required a large amount of credit. Thus credit plays a dynamic role in the development of Agriculture.

“AN ECONOMIC VIABILITY OF DAIRY ENTERPRISES IN ANAND DISTRICT OF MIDDLE GUJARAT
(Anand Agricultural University, Anand, 2008) AJARA MAULIK R.; Dr. R. H. Patel
Dairying has played a prominent role in strengthening India’s rural economy. It has been recognized as an instrument to bring about socio-economic transformation. Small and marginal farmers and landless labours, who drive a substantial part of their livelihood from sell of milk, own about 70per cent of cattle in the rural areas. The study of economic aspects of dairy enterprise will help dairy entrepreneurs in taking rational decisions about allocating their scarce resources. Also the cost and return structure on dairy is an important aspect for an effective linkage between the milk producers and consumers, so that the producers get remunerative price for their milk and consumers get good quality milk and milk products at a reasonable cost. Considering all these aspects, present study entitled “An Economic Viability of Dairy Enterprises in Anand District of Middle Gujarat” was undertaken. The data were collected from 120 milk producers-farmers, spread over 12 villages of four talukas of Anand District of Middle Gujarat during the year 2007-08.The major analytical tools employed for the study were tabular analysis and production function analysis.
