Reliability modelling of replaceable interconnection networks using interval valued universal generating function
(G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar - 263145 (Uttarakhand), 2019-07) Khati, Amisha; Singh, S.B.
In this research work, authoress has developed two different models which are given as: 1. Reliability assessment of replaceable shuffle exchange network (SEN) by using interval valued universal generating function. 2. Reliability assessment of replaceable shuffle exchange network (SEN+) applying interval valued universal generating function. In both the models, we have assumed that the networks are having uncertainties and the failed components of both the networks can be replaced unlike done in the past. The reliability assessment of both networks was done by using the method of IUGF. In the first model, an 8×8 replaceable SEN possessing different uncertainties was considered. The reliability block diagram of the terminal, broadcast and network reliability of SEN was presented. In order to overcome the uncertainties, probabilities bounds have to be used which were evaluated by using supplementary variable technique and Laplace transform. The bounds of the three reliabilities of the SEN were computed along with their MTTF bounds. In the second model, we have considered an 8×8 replaceable SEN+ having uncertainties. The reliability block diagram of the terminal, broadcast and network reliability of the considered SEN+ was presented and its modelling corresponding to each reliability measure was done by applying supplementary variable technique to it. Then by employing Laplace transform, various probability bounds were evaluated and subsequentially the reliability bounds and their MTTF bounds were computed.

Intuitionistic fuzzy rule based modelling to study few psychological parameters
(G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar - 263145 (Uttarakhand), 2018-08) Gupta, Virendra; Sanjay Kumar
Unlike fuzzy set, Intuitionistic fuzzy set (IFS) uses separate functions for membership and non-membership grade. Hence, IFS is considered more ideal tool than fuzzy set to handle non-determinism along with uncertainty. In the present study, we have developed an intuitionistic fuzzy rule based model for predicting anxiety level of students using extraversion and motivation. Participants in the present study are 22 students from the department of physics, chemistry and mathematics. In this study, we also compare performance of IFS rule based model with the performance of earlier fuzzy rule based model, ANFIS model and hybrid models. The chapter 1 describes the basic preliminaries of fuzzy sets, IFS and basic terminology of psychology. It also contains the description of problem undertaken. A brief review of past research work in the area of fuzzy logic, intuitionistic fuzzy sets, psychology and cognitive science have been presented in chapter 2. The chapter 3 comprehensively describes the various material (collection of data through Maudsley Personality Inventory questionnaire) and method that is being used in the duration of course of investigation. The results obtained have been placed in chapter 4 and this chapter also includes comparison with the results obtained output by fuzzy method, ANFIS and Genetic Algorithm method. The works have been summarized in chapter 5. The literature used in the course of study has been referred under section literature cited.

Investigation of reliability characteristics of different networks incorporating copula
(G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar - 263145 (Uttarakhand), 2018-06) Nautiyal, Nisha; Singh, S.B.
In this thesis, authoress has studied the following two different models: 1. Evaluation of reliability of a k-out-of-n network with the help of Gumbel-Hougaard family of Copula. 2. Reliability assessment of a mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) applying Gumbel-Hougaard family of Copula. Both models involve the comprehensive study of the networks having different failure rates which are studied by copula methodology. In the first model, a k-out-of-n network having the property that atleast k node must be there which can have flow from source to terminal, out of the total n nodes, is considered. The nodes which got failed are being repaired by coupling the two repair rates, i.e., exponential and general repair. By using the supplementary variable technique probabilities for different transition has been obtained. Reliability, M.T.T.F and sensitivity of the network have been analyzed using the Gumbel-Hougaard family of Copula. In the second model, a mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) has been studied. The network taken is an environment of a battlefield which has been modeled as a MANET. It includes headquarters (source), three Indian forces (Sub-MANETs) and the base camp of terrorist (sink). The main aim is to destroy the base camp (or to reach the sink). The reliability, M.T.T.F and sensitivity of the MANET have been evaluated by the same method as used in the above model.

Statistical evaluation of body paramaters in adolescent girls
(G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar - 263145 (Uttarakhand), 2016-07) Joshi, Bhawana; Shukla, A.K.
Adolescence is a developing stage and the transition period of adolescence encompasses multiple significant changes like physical, psychological and social that takes place between childhood and adulthood. Body composition & anthropometric parameters are the surrogate measures of metabolic changes that occur in this period of growth and maturation. The assessment of these parameters provides key information to understand the current as well as future health of adolescents. In India, adolescent girls need special attention in view of their role in shaping the health and well being of the present and future generations. Therefore, the present study was undertaken with the major objectives to find distribution pattern of several body parameters, study of inter-relationship between body composition and anthropometric parameters, comparison of body parameters in different age groups and development of prediction models for BF% using different body parameters of adolescent girls. Secondary data of adolescent girls related to Age, Height (H), Weight (W), Body Mass Index (BMI), Waist Circumference (WC), Hip Circumference (HC), Waist-to-Height Ratio (WHtR), Waist-to-Hip Ratio (WHR), Total Body Water Percentage (TBW%), Body Density (BD), and Body Fat Percentage (BF%) were used in this investigation. Data were analysed with help of various parametric and non-parametric statistical techniques using different software namely SAS, IBME SPSS Statistics 20, EasyFit 5.6 Professional and JMP. The following conclusions were drawn from this study. • None of the body parameters under study follow Normal Distribution in the Combined Age Group (13-17 years) as well as in different segments of age groups of adolescent girls which revealed that for statistical study of these parameters non-parametric test procedures should be preferably used by the researchers and nutritionist for more reliable results. • Best fitted distribution of BF% and BMI in different segments of age groups were found appropriate for the prediction of proportion of adolescent girls in different health status categories. Therefore, these distributions could be effectively used to examine the health status of adolescent girls in different populations. • Age, TBW% and BD showed significant negative correlation with BF% whereas W, BMI, WC, HC, WHR and WHR were significantly positively correlated with BF% in adolescent girls of Combined Age Group (13-17 years). • TBW% and BD showed a significant negative partial correlation with BF% when the effect of other body parameters were controlled together. • Significant difference were observed in different segments of age groups with respect to H,W ,BMI, HC,WHR, BF% and TBW% whereas no significant difference was observed with respect to WHtR & WC. • The best prediction model for BF% could be achieved using Multiple Linear Regression Models as compared to Linear Regression and Non Linear Regression Models. The findings of the present study are expected to provide a new direction to health planners and nutritionists for decision making in health related issues of adolescent girls.
