Meenakshi; TANUVAS; John, Lalitha; Sundar, N.; Pandiyan, V.ArticleItem Open Access CONCURRENT THEILERIOSTS AND ANAPLASMOSIS INFECTION IN CROSSBRED COWS - A CASE REPORT(TANUVAS, 2003-06) Sundaram, A. Meenakshi; Sivaseelan, S.; Ramamurthy, N.; Sundaraman, M.N.; TANUVASGenus Theileria, the intracellular parasite and Gcnus Anaplasma, the intraccllular rickettsia cause the diseases Theileriosis a.nd Anaplasmosis respectively in animals. They are transmitted by ticks and affect a wide range of domestic and Wild animals. Annplasma marginale chiefly affects cattle and causes mortality as high as 80 per cent (Soulsby,1968). Reports on concurrent infection of anaplasmosis and theileriosis in cattle are very scarce.ArticleItem Open Access DETECTION OF BENZIMIDAZOLE RESISTANCE IN SHEEP OF TAMLL NADU USING IN VITRO EGG HATCH ASSAY(Indian Society for Sheep and Goat Production and Utilization, 2005-10) Sundaram, A. Meenakshi; John, Lalitha; Sundar, N.; TANUVASMany reports of drug resistance involve the benzimidazole group of anthelmintic (Hunt and Taylor, 1989) and several techniques have been developed to detect the presence of parasites resistant in such animals (Taylor and Hunt, 1989). The ovicidal properties of benzimidazoles were exploited to detect resistance based on the proportion of eggs failing to hatch in solutions of increasing drug concentrations (Le Jambre, 1976; Coles and Simkins, 1977). However, only few reports on benzimidazole resistance in sheep are available in Southern India, particularly in Tamil Nadu. Hence, the present study was designed to detect the resistance to the most commonly used anthelmintic viz. benzimidazole group of drugs against the gastrointestinal parasites of sheep by in vitro egg hatch assay using albendazole as the reference drug.ArticleItem Open Access Occurrence of Classical Swine Fever in Indigenous Pigs in Tamil Nadu(2013) Malmarugan, S.; Sundaram, A.
