ArticleItem Open Access Babesia canis infection in a Labrador pup- A clinical case report(2014-12) Saravanan, S; Palanivel, KM; Senthilvel, K; Sathyabama, T; TANUVASA five months old male Labrador pup manifested signs suggestive ofbabesiosis and examination of the peripheral capillary blood smear revealed B. canis and ticks from the pup were identified as Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Haematocrit and semm biochemical analysis revealed a reduction in haemoglobin level, RBC count and glucose, and increased urea, creatinine and phosphorous, Diminazene aeeturate was found to be effective along with supportive therapy.ArticleItem Open Access Clinico-Diagnostic Evaluation of Renal Failure in 127 Canines(TANUVAS, 2018) Sathyabama, T; Vijayakumar, G; Ezakial Napolean, R; TANUVASThe study was conducted in 127 dogs with renal insufficiency to evaluate hemato-biochemical profiles in renal failure. Eighty four dogs (71 male and 13 female) were found to be affected with renal failure based on hemato-biochemical and urine analysis.OtherItem Open Access GELATIN ZYMOGRAPHY OF MATRIX METALLOPROTEINASES IN NEAT SEMEN OF CATTLE AND BUFFALOES(2019-12) Sathyabama, T; Sabir Salim; Adarsh Ram, et al.; TANUVASThe present study was carried out to ascertain the presence of Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMPs) enzyme activity in neat semen samples of Murrah breed of buffalo by gelatin zymography and the results were compared with the neat semen samples of exotic cattle breed. In gelatin zymography, the presence of one band at 92 kDa of MMP-9 and 72 kDa of MMP-2 were observed in all the samples. The catalytically active lower molecular weight MMPs were observed around 72 kDa. The activity of MMP-2 was 3-4 times higher than that of MMP-9.The activity of MMP-9 (92KDa) and MMP-2 (45KDa) were observed in Murrah buffalo which was absent in the exotic cattle breed. It was concluded that the overall activity of MMPs was at least two fold greater in buffalo breed compared with the activity of MMPs in Holstein Friesian semen samples. Further, it was inferred that purification and characterization of the species specific enzymes and their effect on semen samples could be correlated to use them as an additive in frozen semen samples, as MMP played extensive role in various physiological processes viz., fertilization, ovulation, milk secretion.OtherItem Open Access GELATIN ZYMOGRAPHY OF MATRIX METALLOPROTEINASES IN NEAT SEMEN OF TELLICHERRY GOAT(2019-12) Prakash Krupakaran, R; Sathyabama, T; Ram, Adarsh; et al.; TANUVASThe present study was carried out to ascertain the presence of Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMPs) enzyme activity in neat semen samples of breed of Tellicherry goat by gelatin zymography. In gelatin zymography, the presence of four distinct bands at 135, 125, 92 and 82 kDa of MMP-9 and two bands at 72 and 45kDa of MMP- 2 were observed in all the samples. The catalytically active lower molecular weight MMPs were observed around 45kDa. The activity of MMP-2 was 3-4 times higher than that of MMP-9. Further, it was inferred that purification and characterization of the species specific enzymes and their effect on semen samples could be correlated to use them as an additive in frozen semen samples, as MMP played extensive role in various physiological processes viz., fertilization, ovulation, milk secretion.ThesisItem Open Access Serum Lactate Dehydrogenase and its Isoenzyme Distribution in Dairy Cattle(TANUVAS, 1999) Sathyabama, T; TANUVAS; Viswanathan, S; Nayeem, Mohammed; Kanakaraj, P
