Studies in Arizona U.S A. have shown as much as 20 to 30°/0 reduction in feed intake of chickens during the hottest period of the year, mainly, it is assumed, because of a decreased requirement for energy in a hot environment.ArticleItem Open Access EFFECT OF POTASSIUM AND SODIUM CONCENTRATION ON FREEZABILITY OF BUFFALO SEMEN(1991) Kanakaraj, P; Austin Stephens, AJ; Krishnan, AR; TANUVASStudies on the potassium and sodium concentration in semen and their effect on freezability were undertaken in Murrah bulls, stationed at the Livestock Research Station, Kattupakkam. The mean concentration of potassium and sodium in semen were found to be 98.04±2.77 mg% and 243.0 ± 4.09 mg % respectively. A significant negative correlation of -0.305 was observed between potassium and freezability. There is no significant correlation between sodium and freezability. High potassium concentration was found to be detrimental to freezability.ArticleItem Open Access The Effect of Rovisol *AD3EC or Vitamin C Supplimentation of Layer Mash on the Production Performance of White Leghorn Pullets(1977) Kadirvel, R; Kothandaraman, P; Krishnan, AR; TANUVASAn experiment was conducted with 72 SCWLH Meyer strain pullets of 20 to 40 weeks of age to study the influence of Rovisol ADHEC or vitamin C supplementation on their performance. The differences in the total number of eggs produced, egg weight and body weight were statistically non-significant. It is concluded that it is not advantageous to feed either Rovisol AD3EC or vitamin C to a layer mash adequate in vitamins to improve the performance of layers.ArticleItem Open Access INCIDENCE OF SPERM AGGLUTINATING ANTIBODY IN REGULAR AND REPEAT BREEDING CROSS BRED COWS(1987) Seshagiri, VN; Pattabirman, SR; Krishnan, AR; TANUVASPresence of sperm agglutinating antibodies (SAA) was identified by Tube-side agglutination test in 59.4 per cent of repeat breeder and 14 5 per cent of regular breeder cows. Incidence of SAA in cervical mucus was high (23.8 per cent) in repeat breeders than in regular breeders (2.9 per cent).ArticleItem Open Access Influence of Male to Female Ratio on Fertility and Hatchability in White Leghorn Layer(1977) Kadirvel, R; Krishnan, AR; Kothandaraman, P; TANUVASThe use of one male for every 15 females of White Leghorn layers resulted in similar fertility and hatchability when compared with a flock of 1 to 10 ratio. The results indicate adoption of a wider ratio of male to female than the conventional Ito 10 ratio. This may help to economize the cost of production of hatching eggsArticleItem Open Access PHYSICAL TRAITS OF BURGHUR BREED QF CAT IN TAMIL NADU(1994) Kanakaraj, P; Ramasamy, V; Natarajan, N; Krishnan, AR; TANUVASEKangayam, Umblachery and Burghur are some of the important native cattle breeds of Tamil Nadu.
