Abstract
The present investigation entitled, “Effect of soil and foliar application of zinc and fulvic acid on growth, yield and nutrient uptake by Bt. cotton” was conducted during kharif, 2019-20 at Research Farm, Cotton Research Unit, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola, Maharashtra. The soil of the experimental site was Vertisol which was moderately alkaline in reaction, low in available nitrogen, medium in available phosphorus and high in available potassium. The objectives were to study the effect of soil and foliar application of zinc and fulvic acid on growth, yield and nutrient uptake by Bt. cotton and effect of soil and foliar application of zinc and fulvic acid on fertility status of soil. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with seven treatments randomized in three replications. The treatments comprised of absolute control, control RDF (60:30:30 NPK kg ha-1), RDF + ZnSO4 @ 25 kg ha-1 soil application (S.A.), RDF + 0.5 % ZnSO4, RDF + 0.5 % fulvic acid, RDF + 1 % fulvic acid and RDF + 1.5 % fulvic acid. The results indicated that the application of recommended dose of NPK + ZnSO4 @ 25 kg ha-1 were recorded significantly highest growth attributing character which was found at par with application of RDF + 1.5 % fulvic acid and RDF + 1 % fulvic acid. Similarly the application of recommended dose of NPK + ZnSO4 @ 25 kg ha-1 were recorded significantly highest seed cotton and cotton stalk yield which was found at par with application of RDF + 1.5 % fulvic acid and RDF + 1 % fulvic acid. The application of recommended dose of NPK + ZnSO4 @ 25 kg ha-1 were recorded significantly highest nutrient uptake by cotton which was found at par with application of RDF + 1.5 % fulvic acid and RDF + 1 % fulvic acid. However, the significant improvement in chemical properties of soil were recorded with application of recommended dose of NPK + ZnSO4 @ 25 kg ha-1 followed by RDF + 1.5 % fulvic acid.Hence, it is concluded that the application of recommended dose of NPK + ZnSO4 @ 25 kg ha-1 or application RDF + 1.5 % fulvic acid resulted significantly increased in growth parameter, cotton yield, nutrient uptake and improvement in soil fertility in Vertisols under rainfed conditions.
