Abstract
Bone marrow derived Mesenchymal stem cells
(MSCs) have gained a great deal of attention
as a source of autologous, easily isolatable
stem cells with profound proliferative capacity,
regenerative potential and genetic plasticity.
These cells are more suitable with no ethical
concerns compared to embryo-derived stem cells
for diagnostic and therapeutic applications. Bone
marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells have
characteristic plastic adherence and are referred
as fibroblastoid colony forming cells as they form
characteristic colonies. Their potential ability to
form colonies still remains to be an important
quality in biomolecule testing operations. The
present study describes the comparison of two
methods of colony forming potential in sheep
bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells.
It was observed that low initial density of cell
seeding has higher CFU potential compared to
high initial seeding density in cultural isolation
method.
