Nasal myiasis caused by larvae of sheep nasal y, Oestrus ovis is common among farm bred sheep ocks in Tamil Nadu (Jeyathilakan et al., 2008). Parasitism with larvae of O. ovis causes restlessness, head shaking, sneezing and reduction in feed intake in affected sheep (Muraleedharan et al., 2004). Several anthelmintics belonging to the salicylanilide group like nitroxynil, rafoxanide and oxyclozanide were found to be effective against oestrus myiasis (D’ Souza et al., 1992: Singh and Gill, 1995; Muraleedharan et al., 1999) in sheep. In the present study, an attempt was made to evaluate the comparative efcacy of closantel and ivermectin against clinically affected cases of nasal myiasis in sheep.en_US
