The present study was conducted to analyse the production, marketing and consumption of mushrooms in Bengaluru District of Karnataka. A total of 150 samples were selected, out of these, 30 growers of oyster mushroom, 30 retailers and 90 consumers of mushrooms were drawn for the study. The primary data was collected using a pre-tested structured schedule and data was analysed using descriptive statistics and Garrett’s ranking. The study revealed that 70 per cent of the growers were using grey oyster mushroom spawn for cultivation. Around 46 per cent of oyster mushroom growers received training from the Department of Horticulture, Hulimavu. Button mushroom was preferred by 62.22 per cent of the consumers and around 35 per cent of consumers used mushrooms in preparation of biriyani. Marketing channel I (Growers-Consumers) was predominant channel preferred by 76.67 per cent of growers in marketing of oyster mushroom. Producer’s share in consumer’s rupee was 92.75 per cent in channel I (Growers-Consumers) and producer’s share in consumer’s rupee was 70.83 per cent in channel II (Growers-Retailers-Consumers). Seeking employment was the most important factor influencing the production of oyster mushroom. In the consumption of mushrooms, health and nutritional benefits were the most influencing factors and in the oyster mushroom production, contamination of cropped bags was the major constraint and lower shelf life of mushroom was the major constraint in marketing and consumption of mushroom. Growers through the formation of FPOs and SHGs, can organise their marketing channels in order to reach consumers and increase profits.en_US
