dc.description.abstractres (decomposed cow dung (9 t/ha), fresh cow dung (9 tfha), vermicompost (6 t/ha and 12 dha) and recommended dose of NPK fertilizers (100: 50: 50 kg NPWha) and different gauge polythene bags (150 and 250 gauge) with ventilations (0, 0.5% and 1%) at different storage conditions (CS, CC and RT) on the post harvest quality and physic0 chemical changes of okra fruits var. Arka Anamika grown in Students Farm, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar and studies were conducted in the Post Harvest Technology Laboratory, Department of Horticulture, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar during the year 2003. Among the different organic manures tried, fruits grown with 50% recommended dose of NPK + 50% decomposed cow dung recorded higher yield. Fruits grown with decomposed cow dung were found to be effective on more shelf life for 14 days in CS, 12 days in CC and 8 days in RT by recording low PLW and in retention of higher total sugar, reducing sugars and acidity. Fruits grown with 50% recommended dose of NPK + 50% decomposed cow dung were effective in retaining high ascorbic acid content and chlorophyll content. Acidity, total sugars, reducing sugars, chlorophyll content, ascorbic acid were decreased gradually till the end ofthe storage periods in all treatments and the storage conditions irrespective of polythene bags with different gauges and ventilations. Fruits grown with decomposed cow dung preserved in 5% brine solution has recorded higher score indicating more acceptability than 10% brine solution compared to other treatments.en_US
