The top crosses showed significant variability for green and dry fodder yieid, plantheightandnumberofleaves. . Incombiningabilityanalysis, theeffectsduetogcaofparentsandseaof hybridsweresignificantforgreenanddryfodderyields, plantheight, stemgirth andleaflength. ' Thecombiningabilityvariancesindicatedthepredominanceofnon-additive geneaction. I Highly significant but varying degrees ofheterosis was observed for the characters studied in respect ofheterobeltosisand standard heterosis. In these studies,8l—AXDRSB-l wasfoundtobethebesttopcrosshybridinrespectof meanperformanceaswellastheheterobeltosisandstandardheterosiswithregard togreen fodderand dry fodderyield. Theparentsofthiscrossvi7.., 8l-A and I DRSB-I were found to have highest significant gca effect for these traits.
