| dc.description.abstract | A modest attempt has been made to assess the population dynamics of tea mosquito bug on cashew .For the present study data is taken from Zonal Agricultural Research Station, Brahmavar about infestation parameters and weather parameters, in weekly intervals for 10 years (1998-2008) on the cashew variety vengurla-4 in a control plot. The regression analysis indicated that the weather parameters namely wind speed, rainfall, sunshine hours, minimum and maximum temperature are found to be highly significant in influencing the mirid population, except mean sunshine hours all other factors negatively influenced the population of TMB. Multiple discriminant analysis for the entire data with four groups indicated that damage at new flush, fruit development stage and Rh2, Rh1, mrf are the major contributors for discrimination. The principal component analysis showed that the pest at new flush stage, Panicle initiation and shoot infestation attack stages which are the critical stages of cashew production significantly influences the crop yield. The correspondence analysis indicated that there is association between the months and the different infestation stages. The infestation parameters are closely associated with one or the other month and the existing weather conditions. Any control measure to be taken can be planned much before the infestation occurs. | en_US |
