Abstract
The study entitled “Effect of replacement of concentrate mixtures with different levels of Azolla (Azolla pinnata) meal on growth performance of Osmanabadi Does” was conducted for period of 60 days.. Twenty goat does between 18-24 months of age and weight between 25 to 28 kg were divided into five equal groups .The feeding treatments consisted of T1 i.e consisting of concentrate mixture 100% without azola meal, T2 consisting of concentrate mixtrure 80% + 20% azolla meal, T3 consisting of concentrate mixtrure 70% + 30% azolla meal ,T4 consisting of concentrate mixtrure 60% + 40% azolla meal ,T5 consisting of concentrate mixtrure 50% + 50% azolla meal. The chemical composition of Azolla observed that the DM, CP, CF, EE, NFE and Ash content in Azolla were as 90.20, 25.16, 15.66, 3.42, 52.10, 8.52 per cent respectively. Daily DM intake differed significantly between the treatments The values of daily dry matter intake per 100 kg body weight of the treatment groups T1, T2, T3 ,T4 and T5 were as 3.50, 3.98, 4.29, 4.37 and 3.67 kg respectively. The dry matter intake was noticed more in T4 followed by T3, T2, T5 and T1. Dry matter intake per day were as 1.05, 1.25, 1.38.1.48, and 1.17 kg in the treatment T1, T2, T3 T4 and T5 respectively. This trend thus indicated the influence of supplementation of azolla and concentrate mixture improves the dry matter intake. Weight gain per day was found higher in T4. The per kg gain in body weight was higher in T4 treatment. It was over experimental results, the treatment T4 showed better and desirable result as compared with T1, T2 ,T3 and T5 treatments. Therefore feeding cost was desirable in T4 treatment as Growth rate was higher in feeding the concentrate mixtrure 60% + 40% azolla meal than other groups.
Description
