An investigation was carried out in the Farmer’s Field, Turuvanahalli, Doddaballapur Taluk, Bengaluru Rural District during July to November 2019 to know the “Effect of graded levels of silicon on growth, yield, quality and biotic resistance in pole bean (Phaseolus vulgaris l.) under eastern dry zone of karnataka” with nine treatments replicated thrice. RDF+ soil and foliar application of silicon @ 150kg/ha +4ml/L at 30 days after sowing has recorded higher pod yield (30.22 t ha -1 ), pod yield plant⁻¹ (1088.18g), number of pods plant⁻ 1 (122.71), pod weight, pod length, pod girth and less number of days for 50% flowering. Similarly, the same treatment combination recorded maximum plant height (303.03cm), number of primary and secondary branches plant⁻ 1 , number of leaves plant⁻ 1 and total biomass. Maximum protein content (22.06%), shelf life (12.60 days) and minimum PLW (11.23%) were observed with RDF+ soil and foliar application of silicon @ 150kg/ha +4ml/L at 30 days after sowing. Intensity of rust and incidence of yellow bean mosaic virus was also less during the crop period with same treatment combination. The higher net returns (Rs.5, 57, 563 ha-1 ) and cost benefit ratio (1:2.29) was recorded with the same treatment. Among the different treatments, RDF+ soil and foliar application of silicon @ 150kg/ha +4ml/L at 30 days after sowing has recorded better vegetative growth, higher yield, good quality pods more biotic resistance and maximum net returns as compared to application of RDF+ FYM.en_US
