Abstract
An investigation was carried out to assess the prevalence of Newcastle disease in backyard chicken of Theni district by estimating the HI titre. Individual serum samples were collected from clinically healthy and non-vaccinated backyard chicken reared under extensive management system in randomly selected farms of Bodi and Theni block of Theni District. A total number of one hundred and forty four (72 from each block) blood samples were collected from wing vein of backyard chicken. Haemagglutination inhibition test was done to determine the titer of antibodies of New castle disease virus.
