The women, contributing about half of the world 's population, has been subjected to discrimination, seggregation and exploitation in the past. Their plight was reinforced by religion and social anmes. The neglect of women was nanifested in almost all walks of life including ca.re, education, employment, food and health and the like. The lack of opportunities given to the women in past to develop their facilities resulted in the low levels of contribution of women in development of society. However, the thinking about women in development had undergone radical change with the spread of education, industrialization and ideas of equality and democracy.en_US
