Field investigation of the incidence of PPR in 176 flocks of goats and sheep from 2015 to 2017 showed positivity for 131 Samples for PPRV antigen by CIE. The incidence of PPR was higher during November month followed by March.PPR incidence is low in the goats and sheep above 2 years of age. PPR incidence was more in the age group of 4 months to 1 year. Fifteen PPR positive samples were used for PPRV isolation in Vcro cells and the isolates were again confirmed by RT PCR using N gene primers. These RT-PCR products were sequenced. The partial N gene sequences of the PPRV isolates are similar and showed 99 - 100% homology with Tamil Nadu isolates.en_US
