dc.description.abstractDrinking water is a vital part of the daily activity of livestock and also an important management aspect in livestock farming. The study was conducted to assess the chemical quality of water for livestock in Vellore district. Water samples were collected from Sholingur (V1) and Kodaikkal (V2) villages from Sholingur block and Manthangal (V3) and Pulianthangal (V4) villages from Walajah block. Samples from tap, bore well, pond, open well and lake were tested to find their suitability as drinking water for livestock. Except nitrate and phosphate content other values were by and large within in the BIS acceptable level.en_US
