Lipoarabinomannan (LAM) is highly immunogenic component of mycobacterial cell wall and has been reported to be the cause of some of the non-specific immunosuppression by mycobacteria (Chujor et al. 1992). LAM plays an important role in the pathogenesis of tuberculosis by down- regulating the macrophage effector functions.en_US
