The present study was undertaken to develop an efficient plant regeneration system in Kinnow mandarin (Citrus nobilisLour. × Citrus deliciosaTenora). The shoot tip and nodal explants were cultured on MS medium supplemented with different concentrations and combinations of growth regulators. Sixteen media combinations were tried for multiple shoot induction. Highest percent shoot response for nodalexplant (72.25%) was observed on MS medium supplemented with BAP (2.5 mg/L) and NAA (0.2 mg/L). In case of shoot tip explant, highest percent shoot response (60.72%) was on MS medium supplemented with BAP (2.5 mg/L) + NAA (0.2 mg/L). It was observed that the plant regeneration was influenced by the type of explant and medium. Maximum number of shoots per explant in case of nodal segments were 5.43 on medium fortified with BAP (1.0 mg/L). While in shoot tip explants maximum number of shoots per explant were 4.66 on medium supplemented with Kinetin (2.5 mg/L) and NAA (0.2 mg/L). The nodal explants showed better shoot regeneration response than shoot tip explants. Twelve rooting media were tried for root formation in regenerated shoots. Maximum rooting response was 83% on half MS medium supplemented with IBA (1.0 mg/L) in both the explants. The regenerated plants were transferred to a mixture of sand: soil in 1:1 ratio in pots and 73.33% regenerated plants survived in the soil.en_US
